Yellowstone/Si Cathcart Memorial

These buffalo got in my way as I was trying to get home from Cody, Wyoming.

The Si Cathcart Memorial tournament was one of the best tournaments I have ever played in. The people treated us pros like kings. They made us feel like it was a big deal to have us. It was just a wonderful atmosphere to have fun. I didn't play super golf, but I ended up third and made some decent money. Anyhow, I know I'm going back to Cody sometime in the future.

Nationwide

The frustration I'm feeling is hard to describe. In the biggest tournament of my career, I played the worst golf I've played in a long time. I hit a lot of good shots, but I hit some VERY bad ones too. The good news is my short game is good, and I'm putting great. Nothing went right the last couple of days, and if I didn't hit a bad shot I seemed to get a bad break. It was just one of those weeks, I guess. I hope my experience this week will encourage me to work harder than ever. I know one thing: this is where I want to play golf. Everything about this tour makes you feel like a player. I got a taste of tour golf, and I just want more.

1st Nationwide Event

I got off to a bad start, but a good round can still save me. 74 in the
first round left me back in the pack. Today was filled with lightening
delays, so I didn't even get to tee off. Tomorrow I go at 8:20. The cut
looks to be one under, so I need a round in the 60s.

Upcoming: NATIONWIDE UTAH CLASSIC!

Well, I had to wait around until all the scores came in, but I managed to qualify for my first Nationwide Tour event. I started the day with 6 pars, which aren't all that good in a one day qualifier. I then went 5-under for my next 4 holes (eagle, birdie, birdie, birdie). I birdied the 2 par 5s on the back to put me in great shape at 7-under. A bogey on the 17th gave me a 66 and caused me to wait around the rest of the day (a 65 would have been in for sure). I got in (67 took the last spots) and I'm ready to go. I can't wait for the first round on Thursday.

Upcoming: Utah Nationwide Qualifying

After a few days of rest, my next tournament will be the qualifier for the Utah Nationwide Tour event. The qualifier will be held at Wingpointe GC. There are usually about 14 spots in the tournament up for grabs, with the qualifying score usually between 66-68. Qualifiers are a different sort of tournament. You never know exactly what you need to do to make it. The best approach is probably to try to win, but you can't do anything stupid. You have to grind all the way in, because you can't be sure what the number will be. This is only my second try at qualifying for a Nationwide event. I missed one in Boise last year.
